Supportive Learning Environments
At Milton State School, we value using a range and balance of teaching approaches that are age appropriate for our students. We promote students being active in purposeful learning experiences and our teachers use effective practices to cater for children's interests, strengths and capabilities. Our Prep and Year 1 classes offer extended play opportunities for children to actively and imaginatively engage with peers, objects and their environment.
At Milton State School, we encourage the development of the whole child (physical, social, emotional and cognitive). We support children's well-being and learning engagement by using mindful practices and developing our understanding of neuroscience with students including the learning pit and having a growth mindset. We encourage students to be resilient and have grit by showing perseverance when challenged with their learning. We want our students to embed the deep learning competencies in their learning including character, critical thinking, creativity, citizenship, collaboration and communication.

Coaching
At Milton State School, we are committed to nurturing a community of teachers employing high quality, evidence-based teaching practices focused on success for every student. We strive to empower teachers to develop professional knowledge, practice and engagement. Through reflective conversations and respectful relationships, the coach and coachee collaborate together to work towards improving student learning and teacher practice. Our coaches at Milton State School include a Literacy coach, Mathematics coach, Learning Engagement and Well-Being Coach, Differentiation coaches, Head of eLearning and Inclusion coach.
